I've had a couple of queries today from people about how to insert images into a post so here's a quick guide to anyone who's unsure...

To insert an image all you need to do is

1. Get your image hosted somwewhere - I use IMAGESHACK. Go to their website, click "browse", browse to the image you want hosting and select it, then click the "UPLOAD NOW" button. After a few seconds the image will be uploaded and you'll be given a few links to it. Copy the link titled "Direct Link"

2. Meanwhile, back at HPOC... click the "Insert Image" icon that looks like this...Posted Image

3. If you get an error saying "You Must Enter A URL" just look at the top of the web page and click the warning bar that says "This website is using a scripted window to ask for information. If you trust the website click here." Then select "Temporarily Allow Scripted Windows"

4. Once you've allowed scripted windows you'll need to re-click the "Insert Image" from Step 1

5. You should now be prompted to "Enter the complete URL for the image". This is just the full path to the image. If you hosted your own picture its the link shown in step 1. If its a picture on the net you can find its URL by right clicking the image, selecting properties and copying the address (URL) path. Enter the URL and click ok.

6. Your post should now show the link with an image control character before and after it.

And thats it!

If anyone's has any problems or queries send me a PM or email info@hpoc.co.uk

Cheers
JP

Any experiance of uploading photoes from an iPad? Heading for the isle of Lewis today on a family trip with the wife, me and my 2weans (one of which is the new Lux!!)
Got an iPad from Santa and can't drive it yet!

Might try tagging HPOC on fb.

Not sure where to post this question but here goes....

I want to add some pictures to a thread on this site that I found on another Hilux forum - they are not my pictures and I will name check/credit the guy who took them but the photos are very informative for a certain subject that is being talked about on HPOC. My question is - can I do this or is someone going to get annoyed and tell me I am breaking site rules? I can't find anything that says I would be and the forum I found the pictures on is a public forum so I personally don't see a problem but I thought I'd ask first!

The Direct Link option should be about half way down on the right hand side. It is easy to miss as it is between the adverts and you will probably have to click on the arrow next to 'Links to share this image' to show the links. Or you can right click on the image you want to put up and select 'Copy image' then on HPOC right click in the post box and select 'Paste'.

I've just seen your topic on the brackets you are nearly there, honest. The link you have copied needs to be pasted into HPOC via the 'Image Icon'. On the tool bar above where you type there is a square box with a green background and a tree, if you hover over it it shows 'Image'. Click on this and then paste your link into the box that comes up (URL). Click on okay and your picture will then appear in the post. Posted Image

try this....first go to the pic you want in image shack

Posted Image

on the right hand side links to image left click that and direct link appears....highlight all of the direct link (or right click select all) and then right click and copy

Posted Image

then go to the topic you want to post the pics in and in the reply tools section there is an image option..

Posted Image

click that and this box appears....

Posted Image

right click and paste into the URL box

and Tada......

Needs some trouble shooting mate.

What operating system and browser are you using?

Have you got the latest MS updates installed?

If so have you tried another browser to compare?

I think the editor usies a modified version of CKEditor which is based on Java. Have you got the altest version of Java installed and old versions removed?
